About Black Literature Index

This online index allows users to search bibliographic citations for every item in the Black Literature collection. This collection, available on microfiche, contains over 70,000 poems, literary reviews and pieces of fiction published in 110 black periodicals and newspapers between 1827-1940. See the Title List for details on the periodicals and newspapers which are included.

The Black Literature Index was previously available as a CD-ROM and is also now available as part of Black Studies Center.
